The Global Alliance Management Lead provides strategic leadership for alliances supporting late-stage development and commercialized products. As the primary owner of partner relationships, this role ensures alliances operate effectively and deliver sustainable value across scientific, operational, and commercial dimensions throughout the partnership lifecycle.
You will serve as the key interface with alliance partners, guiding governance, enabling aligned decision-making, and proactively managing partnership evolution from onboarding through optimization or termination.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Lead and manage strategic alliances related to late-stage development or commercialized products spanning onboarding, governance, value expansion, restructuring, and lifecycle transitions
- Serve as the primary executive interface and trusted partner to external stakeholders, building long-term, value-driven relationships
- Drive alliance governance, through Joint Steering Committee (JSC) meetings, by shaping agendas, facilitating decisions, and ensuring disciplined follow-through
- Ensure cross-functional alignment and timely decision-making across Development, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal, and Commercial teams
- Identify opportunities to enhance partnership value, accelerate execution, and improve operational efficiency
- Proactively anticipate and escalate risks or issues leading to timely coordinated resolution with internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor contractual obligations, including milestones, royalties, budgets, and cost-sharing arrangements
- Act as guardian of the alliance agreements and ensure internal teams understand contractual implications
- Foster strong collaboration, alignment, and an unified “one company voice” across the organization
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or related discipline (PhD or MBA is a plus)
- 8–10+ years of experience in:
- Alliance management, business development, or strategic partnerships
- Experience within Pharmaceutical Industry or biotech strongly preferred
- Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional collaborations with external partners in a global environment
- Demonstrated ability to operate at the interface of strategy, governance, and execution in high-value partnerships
- Ability to establish a strong network within own organization and identify and interact effectively with key stakeholders in partner’s organization
- Experience preparing and contributing to negotiations (e.g., scope changes, dispute resolution, contract amendments)
- Prior exposure to governance structures (e.g., Joint Steering Committees)
- Proven ability to design and manage governance frameworks (e.g., JSCs, sub-committees)
- Skilled in aligning stakeholders using structured frameworks such as RACI Matrix
- Ability to prepare, lead, and document executive-level meetings with clear outcomes
- Strong communicator, able to “speak with one voice” internally
- Resilient and adaptable in complex, ambiguous environments
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and proactive problem-solving mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages a plus)
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills (executive-level)
