The Head of Commercial EU & International is responsible for driving the commercial strategy, execution, and performance across all EU & International (EU&I) markets. The role acts as the senior commercial leader for the region, partnering closely with the President EU&I to achieve strong business results, ensure aligned strategic direction, and unlock the full potential of Idorsia’s portfolio.


This position provides strategic leadership for QUVIVIQ across the region, co-leads lifecycle efforts in close collaboration with the US commercial organization, and plays a central role in shaping future pipeline development from a commercial perspective, starting with JERAYGO, first dual endothelin receptor antagonist approved in resistant hypertension in EU, UK, CH. The role also oversees regional business operations, insights, commercial capability building, and budget ownership for all regional commercial activities.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Regional Commercial Leadership

  • Act as the regional commercial lead for EU & International, partnering closely with the President of the region to drive commercial success and ensure consistent market performance.
  • Define, communicate, and execute the regional commercial strategy across all markets, ensuring strong alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance to country commercial teams to enable optimal execution and maximize market impact.

 

QUVIVIQ Strategy & Lifecycle Leadership

  • Oversee and lead the QUVIVIQ commercial strategy across all EU & International countries.
  • Co-lead the QUVIVIQ Lifecycle Team, ensuring close collaboration with the US commercial team and global functions.
  • Steer positioning, messaging, and lifecycle initiatives across the region.

 

Business Operations & Insights Oversight

  • Oversee the regional Business Operations & Insights (BO&I) priorities, ensuring alignment with marketing strategies and local sales force needs.
  • Drive data-driven decision-making by ensuring high-quality insights, analytics, forecasting, and performance tracking.
  • Ensure strong coordination between regional BO&I, marketing, market access, and local commercial teams.

 

External Partnerships & Alliance Management

With Partners and distributors:

  • Act as the commercial point of contact within the partnership steering committees to help the partner(s) ensure the commercial success of the launch of QUVIVIQ.
  • Support the monitoring of the partner to ensure maximization of the commercialization of QUVIVIQ in the region
  • Ensure strict consistency and alignment on the QUVIVIQ strategy across all EU&I countries

With co-promotion partners:

  • Co-lead the EU&I IDIA – Partners’ steering committee, ensuring effective collaboration, governance, and execution of joint commercial commitments.

 

Pipeline Commercial Input

  • Provide strategic commercial guidance for the partnership of JERAYGO in the region
  • Provide strategic commercial input into the development strategy for pipeline assets.
  • Partners with Market Access, R&D, Medical, and Global functions to ensure early commercial insights are embedded into lifecycle and launch planning.

 

Commercial Capability Building

  • Lead the design and implementation of commercial capability-building programs across the region.
  • Foster a strong performance culture across the commercial organization.

 

Budget Ownership & Governance

  • Manage all regional commercial budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation, financial discipline, and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance requirements, policies, and external regulations.

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

  • University degree in Business, Life Sciences, Marketing, or related field.
  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Candidates with GM or BUD experience will be favorably considered
  • 12+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven track record in brand leadership, commercial strategy, and cross-regional execution.
  • Experience in leading lifecycle management and working with US/global teams is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success managing budgets, cross-functional initiatives, and external partnerships.
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to translate insights into actionable commercial plans.
  • Excellent leadership, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills across senior levels.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to drive decisions based on data and insights.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic, evolving environments and manage complexity across multiple markets.
  • High integrity, strong business ethics, and commitment to compliant commercial practices.
