We are seeking a strategic and scientifically accomplished Senior Global Medical Director, to join our Global Medical Affairs team and support the development and execution of the global medical strategy for one or more key assets.
Reporting to the GMA Lead Cardiovascular & New Products, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the medical strategy throughout the product lifecycle, partnering closely with regional and country medical teams to address local needs, generate actionable insights, and ensure effective implementation of global initiatives. You will lead key scientific communication activities, engage with external experts and healthcare professionals, support evidence generation and dissemination, and represent Medical Affairs in cross-functional collaborations that drive asset success.
The successful candidate will bring a strong track record in global medical affairs, experience supporting product launches, exceptional scientific acumen, and the ability to influence stakeholders across diverse functions and geographies. This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to bringing innovative therapies to patients while helping shape the future direction of our global medical strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Member of the Global Medical Affairs team, contributing to the development and execution of the global medical strategy and tactical plans for one or more products across the product lifecycle.
- Partner closely with regional and local Medical Affairs teams to understand market needs, incorporate field insights into strategy, and deliver scientific and strategic support.
- Develop and implement innovative global medical and scientific communication plans.
- Contribute to the planning, development, review, and publication of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations.
- Develop high-quality scientific content for internal training and external educational activities, including MSL engagements and scientific exchange.
- Lead the planning and execution of Global Advisory Boards, expert meetings, and medical activities at major international congresses, including satellite symposia.
- Develop disease area and product-specific training programs to enhance scientific expertise and capabilities across regional and local medical teams.
- Create and maintain scientifically accurate and compelling medical materials and slide decks for internal and external use.
- Communicate the scientific rationale and medical value of assigned assets effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
- Generate and incorporate medical insights from key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals to inform strategy and evidence generation plans.
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Drug Safety, HEOR, and Research functions.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
Candidate Requirements
- MD, PharmD, or PhD required; MD preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, with the majority spent in Medical Affairs roles of increasing responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience in regional and/or global Medical Affairs, including successful support of product launches in the US and Europe.
- Strong scientific and medical communication experience, including publications, congress activities, scientific exchange, and educational initiatives.
- Experience engaging and collaborating with key external experts, investigators, and healthcare professionals.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- Excellent strategic thinking, project leadership, and execution skills.
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
- Strong business acumen and ability to balance scientific excellence with organizational priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership of complex cross-functional teams and global initiatives.
- Outstanding presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and trust at all levels.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are an advantage.
