Job Responsibilities


Main purpose

  • The SAP Business processes team addresses all Corporate and Supply Chain systems and is one of the three functional pillars in GIS, the other two being Commercial Systems, and Clinical and Quality Systems.
  • The main purpose is to partner with the business to develop digitalization of SAP in the areas of Supply Chain, Finance, Product development and S&OP. The business processes and related technologies that are within this function scope include:
    • Financial systems
    • Clinical and commercial Supply chain systems
    • Product Development systems
    • Sales and Operations Planning systems
  • Another purpose is to build, maintain and operate around the clock the corresponding information systems, including SAP ERP and S&OP worldwide by promoting an innovative and effective use of digital technologies.


Specific responsibilities

  • Drive continuous process improvement for Idorsia corporate and supporting functions through the selection and delivery of the corresponding digital solutions. Key success factor for the corporate ERP is keeping a professional and collaborative relationship with business representatives of the respective functions.
  • Advise business leaders on the implications of IT-enabled change and work with them to mitigate business risk and deliver a positive user experience.
  • Strategic planning, design, development and rollout of the information systems and related processes in full alignment with global, and adapt those systems to local/regional market and regulatory specificities
  • Global accountability for delivery of digital projects within the scope of responsibilities
  • Manage staff of up to 12 internal HCs within 4 years plus external staff
  • Monitor and account for IT expenditure of 8-12 mio CHF over 4 years. Make early identification of where costs may exceed planned budget and provide timely reports, ensuring that all IT financial targets in the area of responsibility can be met.

  • Global Procurement and Finance, Global Commercial Supply Chain, including Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehouse Management, Sales Order Management and Quality Management
  • Regional/Local Supply Chain, including adapting to local healthcare ecosystem and integrating with local partners along the supply chain
  • Global Sales and Operations Planning processes
  • The success of this position in implementing the proper systems and in maximizing their use, has a direct impact on Idorsia’s effectiveness in functions like Commercial Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement and Product Development and consequently a direct impact on company overall performance.



  • This function requires in-depth technical competencies in a wide range of complex business processes including Finance, Supply Chain, Sales Order Management, etc. with equally advanced knowledge of the corresponding tools and systems
  • In this function the person needs to capture and translate business requirements into technical solutions, shielding the users from the technical complexity
  • The complexity is also driven by varying needs, being different ecosystems for sales and distribution or different reporting and regulatory requirements
  • Other driver of complexity is the necessity of having a strategic mind and excellent communication skills while also being skilled in operational management


Reach and global scope

  • This function interacts with every the corporate and supply chain global functions and senior management, as well as corresponding regional functions
  • This function has also an extensive interaction with strategic vendors and partners such as 3PLs or CMOs, and external and internal auditors


Candidate’s Requirements 


  • Master’s degree in business/IT or equivalent industry experience
  • 15 or more years of professional experience in the area of Finance and Supply Chain with preferably minimum 5 years in the pharmaceuticals industry
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in IT management including budgeting, people management, project management and technical development
  • Leadership skills:
    • Entrepreneurial and strategic thinking to progress SAP S/4HANA and S&OP priorities through effective and innovative use of technology.
    • Analytical and communication abilities to create and align the right SAP S/4HANA and S&OP vision, strategy and plans with the business objectives.
    • Ability to deliver IT services with effective project management and mastery of computer systems validation
    • Experienced in managing IT services ensuring availability/stability, effective problems resolution and outstanding user experience
    • Lean thinking, capable to drive process simplicity throughout the organization by leveraging technology solutions.
  • Relationship and people management skills:
    • Ability to network and leverage strong internal and external resources and expertise to understand business challenges and opportunities and deliver relevant IT solutions.
    • Demonstrate strong stakeholder’s management skills, including interaction with management of all business functions in the HQ and affiliates.
    • Strong team leadership and people management skills with evidence of creating high performing teams and delivering operational excellence.
    • Experienced in leading cross-functional and multicultural team in a global environment.
  • Technical skills:
    • Strong knowledge of Finance and Supply Chain business processes in the Pharmaceutical industry
    • Strong knowledge of ERP/SAP tools and practices
    • Strong knowledge of S&OP tools and practices
    • Advanced knowledge of Computer System Validation and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry
    • Strong Project Management skills
    • Broad understanding of overall Information Technology
