Job Responsibilities


  • Provide biomarker leadership for a selected number of projects throughout discovery and clinical development. 
  • Lead the Translational Biomarker Matrix Team in alignment with the biomarker strategy. Drive the biomarker strategies, the design of clinical and translational biomarker studies, and give input to preclinical experiments/collaborations. 
  • Develop and manage the biomarker strategies for the clinical development (i.e., project planning, implementation, risk assessment/mitigation, quality systems) 
  • Ensure generation of high-quality biomarker data to inform clinical studies in the portfolio. 
  • Instill scientific rigor by ensuring biomarker data “completeness” and accurate data analysis/integration in the context of the program, biomarker and/or reverse-translation strategy.  
  • Represent biomarker function in study management teams and/or internal/external functional expert teams. Present scientific data at key internal departmental and/or external scientific meetings. 
  • Lead scientific/technical expert support for internal biomarker platforms and cross-functional biomarker initiatives. 
  • Responsible for the authoring of biomarker sections in relevant clinical study or project specific documentation (i.e., clinical protocols, informed consent, IB, BB, CSRs, SOW, etc.). 
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and preclinical functions in early development and life cycle teams 
  • Act as the subject matter expert on all scientific, technical, and regulatory biomarker aspects  
  • Define, develop, and implement cost effective solutions for biomarker measurement and analyses, assure proper scientific embedding that allows for informed decision in project progress. 
  • Provide scientific leadership to the Translational Biomarker Group (TBG) together with group head and lab heads. 
  • Benchmark the TBG activities and seek for optimizing the interaction with teams and senior management. 
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external researchers, present, and discuss scientific results to internal and/or external audience 
  • Present the scientific work to the internal and external world by means of concise reports, publications in peer reviewed journals, and national/international conferences. 


Candidate’s Requirements 


  • PhD or PhD/MD in a life science discipline  
  • Minimally 5-10 years experiences in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimally 2 years of relevant postdoctoral experience  
  • Deep knowledge of clinical biomarkers in any of the following therapeutic areas:  focus on cardiovascular, CNS or metabolic disorders. Oncology and immunology also appreciated
  • Relevant experience in one or more biomarker technologies
