Job Responsibilities


The Application Developer is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining software applications based on user, process and functional requirements, with a clear understanding of the pharmaceutical regulations, within GxP environments.

He / She is also in charge of the architecture, design and implementation of reporting solutions.


Major tasks include:

  • Assessment of user needs through close cooperation with business functions to provide support and proactive service, including analysis of opportunities in accordance with the IT strategy and architecture
  • Engineering, implementation and maintenance of applications, components, modules and interfaces, analysis and correction of software errors
  • Provision of data models, functions and/or objects
  • Configuration or development of new system functionalities based on user requirements
  • Ongoing troubleshooting, user support, and maintenance of the Systems to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Provision or selection of applicable methods, technologies, standards, guidelines and tools for the software development and maintenance
  • Creation of system related QS documentation (SOPs, Work Instructions, etc) in compliance with relevant policies and standards
  • Provision of good and well structure documentation and methodology to ensure compliance to CSV requirements, IT policies, and standards (when applicable)



Candidate’s Requirements


  • University degree in science, computer science, management information systems, or related field
  • 5 years of professional experience, preferably with 3 years in the pharmaceutical industry
  • 3 year or more hands on experience in software development
  • At least 3 years of experience in database modelling
  • Strong knowledge technical skills in the relevant domain:
    • Transactional systems:
      • multi-tiers applications, object-oriented programming, and programming language, e.g., Java, C++, Scala
      • Very good experience with Application servers such as Apache-Tomcat, JBoss. 
      • Strong knowledge about web technologies, e.g, Ajax, Json, HMTL5, CSS, Javascript
      • Very good experience with standards like XML, SOAP, REST
    • Analytical systems:
      • ETL, DWH architecture and boundaries, especially in the context of multiple product offerings to the business
      • Strong knowledge of data governance principles: identify roles, responsibilities, processes in the management of master data (MDM), data quality, data architecture, data stewardship
      • Good understanding of data integration, systems interfaces, data warehousing and data mining
  • Experienced in Agile Methodology
  • Good knowledge of regulated environments (GxP), Computerized System Validation, Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 Part 11 and required documentation, and understanding of GAMP 5 software (when applicable)
  • Strong communication skills, able to understand problems and present solutions towards business partners
  • Ability to quickly translate business needs into technical specifications
  • Ability to manage resources in the design and implementation of systems and data interfaces
  • Ability to deliver high quality support for those applications, whether transactional or analytical
  • Independent and hands-on working style, team player, highly self-motivated, autonomous, proactive and change oriented
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), German and/or French is a plus
