Job Responsibilities

In this newly created position, the data scientist proteomics is primarily responsible for analysis of proteomic datasets generated by our in-house mass spectrometry lab. Studies will encompass pharmacological mechanisms of action and biomarkers in both preclinical and clinical studies. Additionally, the candidate will play an active role in building processes for proteomic analysis. The position will be part of the Data Science Team within the Translational Science Group, whose members scientifically and experimentally engage in project teams from different therapeutic areas to solve critical questions to support the discovery and development of NMEs. By working closely together with other functions including pharmacology, scientific computing and statistics, you will report, present decisionable data and discuss them with the discovery and development teams. The candidate should be at ease with working to challenging timelines, and simultaneously on several projects with different objectives.

The data scientist proteomics will be further responsible for the following tasks:

  • Develop standardized workflows for proteomic data storage, management and retrieval.
  • Ensure data analysis work is well documented and highly traceable.
  • Integrate proteomic datasets with other data types.
  • Report and present results to cross-functional project teams including potential interpretations.
  • Work with disease area partners and mass spectrometry lab to ensure optimum study design.
  • Build a strong interaction with other statistical and data analysis functions.

Candidate's Requirement
  • PhD in biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics or appropriate related discipline.
  • Proven track record in analysing proteomic datasets with both data dependent and data independent strategies.
  • Experience in analysis of omics datasets for pharmacological mechanisms and/or disease biomarkers.
  • Strong background in computational analysis and experienced in using statistical packages such as R.
  • Experience with communicating omics data to non-specialists.
  • Hands-on experience with sample preparation for proteomics strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with operating high resolution mass spectrometers and nanoflow-LC preferred.
