Job Responsibilities

 

The Forecasting & Analytics Lead is a critical business partner for the commercial teams (marketing and market access), finance, supply chain planning and affiliates predicting brand volume demand and consulting with the team on how to manage risks and opportunities for the business.

 

 

The Director, Forecasting & Analytics Lead will:

 

  • Develop product-specific short- and long-term forecast models and ensure these are up to date, reflecting current data, insights and assumptions
  • Lead the forecasting and business planning processes and associated work streams
  • Identify key business issues that impact short-term and long-range product and market forecasts; clearly and pro-actively surface these issues
  • Incorporate and drive the results of primary research into the forecast model(s) to reflect anticipated customer behavior
  • Define forecasting processes and build capabilities in forecasting for new and inline assets.
  • Have responsibility to develop forecasts for several therapeutic areas using patient based forecast models, and ensure alignment on forecast assumptions and other critical analytical assessments with internal business partners in HQ and key affiliates
  • Ensure objectivity of brand/therapeutic area forecasts through establishing objectives aligned around forecast accuracy.
  • Drive sensitivity analysis to assist in opportunity identification and risk management.
  • Partner with Finance and Market Access to understand gross-to-nets, pricing assumptions, payer landscape and reimbursement policy, and with Supply Chain to translate brand volume forecasts into supply-demand planning.
  • Champion the use of customer insight in strategic and resourcing decisions across the business
  • Monitor the external environment to stay up to date on leading analytical capabilities, both within and outside of pharma, which can be applied within the organization
     

In this role you will have responsibility for forecasting a portfolio of late-stage assets and play an integral role in setting expectations for performance and support the development of optimal brand strategies. You will be responsible for implementing and ensuring consistent application of best practices across the organization drawing from inside and outside the industry, leading to objective forecasts supported by insight & analytics. You will help develop and implement new capabilities and improvements and assist in training across the team and beyond. Over time, the potential for team leadership exists.

This role is reserved for someone with a strong business understanding who has deep forecasting and quantitative technical skills combined with excellent communication skills. As such, those who will qualify for this position are both technically sound and have the ability to be a proactive internal consultant, adding value to the company's commercial organization beyond their analytical prowess through their understanding of secondary data, market research, deep industry knowledge, and track record of innovative and impactful decision support.

 

 

 

Candidate’s Requirements

 

 

  • Master’s Degree in Life Science and/or Economics, Social Science, Business
  • 8+ years of analytical experience in pharma or related fields, min. 3 years specifically in pharmaceutical forecasting
  • Excellent financial modelling and forecasting skills: The ideal candidate has experience with both Global and US-specific forecasts and from both stock- and flow-based forecasts of products and markets
  • In-depth knowledge of forecasting techniques and use of different and complex forecasting and scenario modelling
  • Launch forecast experience a must
  • Experience in building, deploying, and embedding capabilities into an organization
  • Experience utilizing a range of analytics involving standard data in the Pharmaceutical Industry e.g. IQVIA (MIDAS, DDD NPA, Monthly Xponent), patient-level claims data, EMR data and epidemiological data etc.
  • Strong understanding of primary market research, advanced analytics, and competitive intelligence.
  • Reportable accomplishments around converting derived insight into strategic guidance
  • Proven record of successfully driving a forecasting plan, including for which insights are needed through primary and secondary sources
  • Ability to drive business cases (P&L analyses) towards senior leaders and to accomplish decision making
  • Experience in driving secondary analytics projects with external vendors
  • Experience with building out reporting of in-market sales/volume data at the global level is an advantage
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functionally and manage multiple, complex demands.
  • Strong business acumen and sense of urgency in sharing critical information with relevant stakeholders
  • Flexibility to manage in a fast-changing environment
  • Strategic thinker with superior problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to perform complex international forecasting and analytics projects
  • Advanced Excel skills to build and/or alter forecasting models
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation and project management skills
