Reporting to the Global Head of Medical Affairs, the Global Medical Operations Lead is responsible for establishing and leading the Medical Operations function and team at Idorsia with robust capabilities across all the geographies.

 

 

Specific accountabilities include:

 

  • A core member of the Global Medical Affairs team, contributing to ensure a robust medical governance and an efficient operationalization of the medical pans at Global and country level;
  • Ensure that all the needed policies and SOPs for medical activities (e.g. review and approval of Investigators Sponsored Research - ISR, Ad Boards, Medical education activities, etc.) are in place, simple to implement and aligned with internal and external rules and stakeholders; 
  • Partner with Global Medical Team in the preparation of internal audits and inspections, in the proper follow up of actions and implementation of CAPAs.
  • Ensure the tracking of ISRs, grants and potential requests submitted to Global Medical Affairs for compassionate use.
  • Ensure that the members of the Global Medical Affairs and their teams are fully supported in the operationalization of the Global Advisory Boards, Medical Education Events and Phase IV Trials/observational studies, including  the selection and the management of the external agencies and partners that support any Global medical projects. 

 

 

 

Candidate Profile 


The Global Medical Operations Lead will be an experienced professional with a strong, successful track record in medical processes and governance, budget tracking, and project management. 
A collaborative, hands-on individual, the successful candidate will have the agility to operate in a dynamic, science-driven environment. S/he will stand out for quality- and efficiency mindset, sense of urgency and the ability to build bridges into new functional areas.  This role will be co-located with the rest of the Commercial leadership team at the company headquarters in in Allschwil/Basel, Switzerland.


Specifically, s/he will demonstrate the following:

 

  • Scientific degree (e.g. Biology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry);
  • Deep knowledge of the key medical affairs activities and processes with minimum 10-year experience in the pharmaceutical industry predominantly in global or regional (above-country) medical affairs function; former Medical Operations role is an advantage;
  • Project Management skills and budget tracking experience in a multifaceted environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage well multiple projects and competing priorities;
  • Excellent multitasking, collaboration and communication skills to facilitate team discussions and drive optimal team performance;
  • Proficient in developing reports for various stakeholders on senior levels;
  • Ability to meet timelines that may require a flexible work schedule;
  • Effective delivery of high-quality results in a demanding growth environment;
  • Ability and enthusiasm in building engaged teams and effective partnerships with broad stakeholder groups.
