Job Responsibilities


  • Comprehensive support of the Chief Patent Counsel and Deputy Chief Patent Counsel on an ad hoc basis, including:
    • Drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications worldwide.
    • Providing strategic IP advice to company personnel, mainly in Research and Development.
    • Involvement in patent license agreement drafting.
    • Freedom to operate activities.
    • Involvement in patent assessments and due diligence.
    • Involvement in oppositions and appeals at the EPO and other patent offices.
  • On the job training and active support in patent-related paralegal tasks, including nationalizations and EP validations.
  • On the job training in patent law, including preparation for the European Qualifying Examination (EQE) to become a European Patent Attorney.


Candidate’s Requirements


  • University degree (ideally Ph.D.) in organic chemistry or biochemistry (with solid knowledge of organic chemistry).
  • Some background in patent law and/or in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Very good knowledge of German is preferred. 
  • Team player with reliable personality and good organizational skills.
  • Keen perception, attention to detail, accuracy, ability to prioritize, and a proactive mindset.
  • Business-minded, with the ability to work across functions (including especially R&D).
  • Good soft skills such as social competence and interpersonal skills.
