Job Responsibilities

In this role you will join an established CNS cell and molecular biology group that supports Idorsia’s CNS drug discovery portfolio. You will work in a matrix environment where initiative, close teamwork and excellent communication is required.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Routinely plan, perform, analyze and document high-quality cell culture-based and biochemical experiments to provide structure-activity relationship data with minimal supervision
  • Develop and implement disease and target relevant assay systems required for drug discovery and target validation projects
  • Culture and manipulate primary and iPS-derived central nervous cellular systems
  • Write complex reports under supervision
  • Retrieve information from literature to optimize experimental methods
  • Present results in the team, group, and project meetings as a basis for decisions and to foster discussion
  • Independently manage daily interactions with colleagues in other labs as part of an overall workflow
  • Establish, validate and apply new technologies
  • Contribute to maintain lab and equipment operational, clean and safe according to company rules and regulations
  • Supervise & train interns and apprentices
  • Display outstanding teamwork and communication skills


Candidate's Requirements

  • MSc degree in neuroscience. PhD will not be considered.
  • At least 2 years of practical experience in the industry
  • Familiar with standard methods in cell culture, molecular biology and biochemistry
  • Experience with iPS-derived and primary CNS cell culture
  • Knowledge of intracellular signaling processes in neural cells and cell lines would be an advantage
  • Good command of computer skills and experience in using software programs for data analysis
  • Experience in ICC/IF, image analysis and HCS would be an asset
  • Understanding of the drug discovery process
  • Knowledge of the biology and pharmacology of GPCRs and ion channels is an advantage
  • Experience in developing and executing screening assays
  • Excellent knowledge of written and oral English. German and/or French is a strong asset
  • Strong commitment and motivation, dynamic, flexible, scientifically curious and willing to learn and explore
  • Able to work accurately under time constraints
  • Skilled at analytical thinking & troubleshooting
  • Self-reliant with a team-oriented mindset
