Job responsibilities


In this role you will join an established Immunology Cell and Molecular Biology group that supports Idorsia’s Immunology drug discovery portfolio. You will work in a matrix environment where initiative, close teamwork and excellent communication is required.


Key responsiblities


  • Routinely plan, perform, analyze and document high-quality cell culture-based and biochemical experiments to provide structure-activity relationship data with minimal supervision
  • Develop, validate and apply cellular and molecular tools, employing a wide range of new technologies and state of the art methodologies
  • Develop and implement disease and target relevant assay systems required for drug discovery and target validation projects
  • Retrieve information from literature to optimize experimental methods
  • Present results within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Independently manage daily interactions with colleagues in other labs as part of an overall workflow
  • Have laboratory management responsibilities including daily lab routine, ordering supplies, monitoring inventory, and equipment maintenance
  • Write complex reports under supervision
  • Supervise & train interns and apprentices
  • Display outstanding teamwork and communication skills


Candidate’s requirements


  • MSc degree in Pharmacology/Cell biology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology or a related biological science (no PhD, applicants with a PhD will not be considered)
  • At least 4 years of practical experience in the industry or relevant research experience
  • Proficiency in Molecular and Cell Biology techniques, comprising but not restricted to design and generation/ordering of molecular tools (oligonucleotides, siRNA, plasmids), genetic manipulation of cell lines (transfection, electroporation, gene silencing and/or genome edting), cultivation of primary cells, and evaluation of gene and protein expression by standard molecular and biochemical assays (e.g.: qPCR, western blotting, elisa)
  • Experience in immunological methods e.g. flow cytometry and immune cell isolation would be an advantage
  • Experience in pharmacology or immunology signaling pathways or in developing and executing screening assays would be a strong asset
  • Strong sense of understanding and applying software programs for data analysis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required
  • Strong commitment and motivation, proactive, flexible, scientifically curious and willing to learn and explore, able to work accurately under time constraints
  • Skilled at analytical thinking & troubleshooting, able to solve problems creatively
  • Self-reliant with a team-oriented mindset
