Job Responsibilities

 

The scientist will be responsible to expand the expertise in cellular metabolism to validate targets and analyze inhibitors in immunology and other therapeutic areas of interest to Idorsia (CNS, CV/fibrosis, oncology). This will include the development of enzymatic and cell-based assays, utilize metabolomic data and participate in compound profiling. You will be part of a drug discovery group with a strong focus on metabolic processes whose members are working on the discovery and preclinical development focusing on inhibitors and modulators of bacterial and human enzymes following an interdisciplinary approach, combining various in vitro biochemical and cellular assays.

 

In a first phase, you will collaborate with project teams with an immunology focus. Later, you will also drive the exploration of the concept into alternative disease areas and be part of cross-functional projects teams working on individual targets.

 

The scientist in metabolism will also be responsible for:

 

  • Driving the exploration and validation of novel drug targets
  • Prioritizing work according to project goals and take responsibility for the timely delivery of objectives
  • Keeping up to date with scientific knowledge in general and project-related areas of immunometabolism
  • Continuous evaluation, validation and implementation of new tools and methodologies
  • Collaboratively working within the team and communicating effectively and actively
  • Documenting, reporting and summarizing data for presentation to different audiences.
  • Publishing, presenting and discussing scientific results at international meetings
  • Supervising the activities of laboratory technicians or research associates

 

Candidate's Requirement

 

You are an enthusiastic, open-minded scientist interested to solve challenging scientific questions and a proactive communicator with very good organizational and planning skills and the ability to maintain good and consistent working relationships with the members of a multidisciplinary team. You are a results-oriented professional with interests in accelerating drug discovery through innovative experimental approaches and collaborations. Applicants should accompany their expression of interest with a detailed CV including their research interests, technological skills, peer reviewed publications and the contact information from at least two referees.

 

  • University diploma and PhD in either biochemistry or cell biology.
  • Professional or postdoctoral experience in a research environment with relevant publications in peer reviewed scientific journals
  • Previous advanced research experience in cellular metabolism including the analysis of metabolomic data
  • A strong background in applying biochemical or biophysical methods to study ligand-protein interactions will be advantageous
  • Industry experience would be a valuable asset.
  • Proficient in the English language. German and/or French would be an advantage.
  • Proven communication skills in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment
