For our CNS Biology group, we are seeking a Scientific Associate for a temporary assignment of 2 years. In this role, you will join an established cell and molecular biology group that supports Idorsia’s CNS drug discovery portfolio. You will work in a matrix environment where initiative, close teamwork and excellent communication skills are required.

The successful candidate will:

  • Perform in vitro biology experiments independently according to instructions 
  • Generating and maintaining recombinant cell lines 
  • Documenting experiments in an electronic laboratory journal 
  • Develop and implement high- and medium-throughput assays, with a primary focus on ion channel assays
  • Writing reports in collaboration with colleagues and/or supervisor 
  • Evaluating and analyzing screening data by using different software programs 
  • Maintaining lab and equipment operational, clean and safe according to company rules and regulations 
  • Performing assays and analyzing data independently 
  • Interpretation of results, followed by a discussion with supervisor 
  • Retrieve information from the literature to compare experimental methods 
  • Presenting results in lab team, group and project meetings as a basis for decisions and to foster discussion


Candidate Requirements:

  • MSc degree in biological sciences
  • Some industry experience in drug discovery is an asset 
  • Previous experience working with ion channels and/or background knowledge in CNS is an asset 
  • Willingness to learn new skills and techniques 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Good command of written and oral English 
  • German and/or French is an asset 
  • Good basic computer knowledge 
  • Good knowledge of standard software and interest in computer-supported processes 
  • Ability to plan, perform, analyze and accurately document experiments with minimal supervision 
  • Ability and flexibility to work independently in a small team
  • Dynamic, flexible, scientifically curious and willing to learn
