Experienced Scientific Associate Immunoassays and Flow Cytometry

In the Translational Biomarker Group our mission is to develop biomarkers to aid decision-making in clinical development. To complement our team, we are looking for an experienced Scientific Associate with interest in translating research concepts to clinical development. 
As a laboratory representative you will identify biomarkers and develop, validate and implement suitable assays to study biomarkers in preclinical and clinical studies. You will analyze, visualize and report biomarker data from preclinical and clinical studies. As a member of the Translational Biomarker Group, you will contribute to ensure best practice in both biomarker research and the implementation of exploratory biomarkers in clinical development. With your scientific excellence and curiosity for novel approaches and technologies you will contribute to the success of our portfolio. Your proactive and positive mindset, and your excellent communication skills will make you a valuable colleague in the Translational Biomarker Group.

Job Responsibilities


  • Act as laboratory representative for specified Translational Biomarker Group projects in the area of Immunology, Oncology, CNS and CV fibrosis
  • Identify, develop, validate and implement biomarker assays in preclinical models and clinical studies
  • Ensure communication with laboratory head and Translational Biomarker Group representative on objectives, progress, timelines, and results
  • Propose and implement novel technologies to analyze biomarkers
  • Propose and implement experiments to identify and characterize biomarkers
  • Propose and implement laboratory procedures in accordance with industry standards on analysis of biomarkers in clinical samples
  • Analyze and visualize result based on project needs preferably using R or python
  • Report results according to Idorsia procedures (e.g., biology report, bioanalytical analysis report, assay validation report)
  • Document experiments in electronic laboratory journal
  • Work according to Biosafety Level 2 laboratory rules

Candidate’s Requirements 


  • Master's degree in biology, pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in the industry 
  • Track record on proposing, designing and executing laboratory studies independently
  • Laboratory experience in cell biology, flow cytometry and immunoassays (e.g. ELIspot)
  • Experience with analyzing clinical samples and developing biomarkers
  • Track record on analyzing, integrating, visualizing, interpreting and reporting data
  • Team player, at ease interacting in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent oral and written English
