Role Overview


As a part of Global FP&A team, the role partners directly with Commercial and Supply Chain team members, acting as the FP&A arm to Idorsia’s Supply Chain. The role reports to Head of Global Financial Planning & Analysis. 

The role will be a key business partner for the commercial supply chain, but will also contribute to continuum from API and drug product development and manufacturing to finished goods delivery and returns.  

As Idorsia is setting up its commercial supply chain in a greenfield approach, it is key that the role can bring best practices from its experience. As such, the role will be responsible for supporting Supply Chain organization in designing and running the COGS calculation and analysis and will continuously contribute to its improvement. 

Recommending optimization of processes will also be a key responsibility for this role: improve processes and use of tools, leverage all system capabilities, increase automation of processes, deliver efficiencies. 

The role will also be a daily partner of Finance teams in affiliates. 


Job Responsibilities


Business support 

  • Develop and build strong relationships with the supply chain specialists, ensuring full involvement in their financials to drive growth and profitability according to the commercial plans and Idorsia’s strategy 
  • Work within the global finance team to develop and improve new tools & systems which help to control the full lifecycle of the product 
  • Compute and maintain transfer prices and provide internal and external auditors with rational and detailed calculation 
  • Own the product costing process and contributes to its continuous improvement
  • Calculate, maintain and control standard prices on a regular basis for commercial products as well as variances to actual in accordance with US GAAP 
  • Perform actual costing calculation on a monthly basis for reporting purposes 
  • Responsible for FP&A for the commercial products, inventory valuation and monitoring, in close coordination with the R&D FP&A 
  • Review and contribute to supply chain contracts including sourcing, subcontracting, distribution, partnering and collaboration agreements  
  • Contribute to subcontractors and suppliers’ performance evaluation in close collaboration with CMC leader 
  • Provide business partners with accurate and documented provisional COGS 
  • Complete ad-hoc financial analysis of projects to ensure sound financial support for the decision-making process. 
  • Provide business partners with relevant scoreboards on COGS, inventory with appropriate KPIs 
  • Monitoring of other key performance indicators (e.g. service levels, quality of forecasts, headcount/productivity) in coordination with departments in charge 



  • Contributes to planning activities for the commercial group following the global FP&A’s planning processes and guidelines 
  • Support planning process of manufacturing subcontracting, freight and custom duties, insurances, distribution costs, and working capital elements 
  • Actively follow the commercial insights team to monitor trends and outlooks to ensure early detection of risk and opportunities towards the profitability of Idorsia’s brands 
  • Update Supply Chain forecast vs. actuals variance analysis reporting to analyze key performance drivers 
  • Assist business case calculations 


Analytics / Reporting 

  • Perform monthly closing processes, in close liaison with HQ Finance team 
  • Master Data Management: input, maintenance, contribution in development of reports in Business Intelligence tool 
  • Assist inventory valuation and analysis, slow moving and obsolete identification 
  • Provide deep insight and analytics on the COGS during Pre and post new product launch evaluation 
  • Lead development of standard methods to analyze and report on COGS KPIs and contribute to Global CSC implementation 
  • Conduct regular and ad hoc variance analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings across global commercial operations 
  • Contribute to intracompany flows identification and settlement, as well as internal margin elimination. 
  • Provide internal and external auditors with documented COGS recognition and inventory valuation 


Candidate Requirements


Education & Certifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in business/finance/accounting or related field 


Job experience

  • 7+ years of Supply Chain / Manufacturing Operations FP&A experience with multi-national/global companies in Pharma or Biotech Sector 
  • Experience in implementing, operating and maintaining SAP FI/CO/MM functionalities 
  • Experience as a transversal team member 


Functional Skills       

  • Hands-on expertise of costing methods in SAP FI/CO/MM is mandatory, including standard costing, actual costing runs and variance analyses 
  • Experience in inventory control and analysis 
  • Experience with SAP Margin Analysis is a plus. 
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of broad supply chain elements & processes  
  • Basic understanding of VAT (incl. Intrastat and EC-sales) and customs duties in the supply chain area
