Reporting to the Head of Global Medical Operations, the person succeeding in this position will be responsible for implementing key information and functional systems, establishing processes, and driving the visualization of key data and metrics that will be vital to informing the continuing strategic contribution of the Medical Affairs Function to Idorsia’s success.

The Global Medical Operations Expert will be an experienced professional with a successful track record in Medical Affairs processes and governance, IT systems and platforms relevant to Medical Affairs and Medical Information, data visualization, and program management.


A collaborative, hands-on individual, the successful candidate will have the agility to operate in a dynamic, science-driven environment. S/he will stand out with a quality and efficiency mindset, sense of urgency and the ability to collaborate with a range of functions. This role will be located at the company headquarters in in Allschwil/Basel, Switzerland.


Job Requirements


  • Business oversight, integration, and optimization of IT systems across Medical Affairs, including: 
  • Veeva CRM and content management platforms
    • Driving communication strategy and content plans for external microsites; liaising with different stakeholders on content and educational needs.  
    • Grants and IIS platforms.
    • Training of internal medical teams on systems and requirements. 
  • Developing an aligned and strategic process for gathering and reporting insights and metrics across Medical Affairs, including designing visualization dashboards. 
  • Ensuring Medical Affairs operations of Phase 3b/IV studies in collaboration with clinical development
  • Management, tracking and process optimization for grants and IIS.
  • Global KOL planning, preparation, tracking and reporting. 
    • Implementing a centralized HCP request and management system for Medical Affairs.  
  • Partnering with Global Medical Affairs team members for the preparation of internal audits and inspections; ensuring audit readiness.
  • Driving best practice sharing and field medical excellence, including CRM optimization and alignment.  
  • Aligning and tracking medical plans across geographies. 
  • Creating and supporting the Medical Information Team in tracking and supporting audit and inspection readiness activities (supporting in coordination with the Medical Affairs activities).
  • Optimizing the Global Medical Information metrics and reporting with integration into the wider Medical Affairs dashboards. 


Candidate Requirements


  • Scientific degree (e.g., Biology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry) or a business degree with significant pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the key Medical Affairs activities and processes in the pharmaceutical industry (minimum 7 years’ relevant experience, ideally gained in a global or regional medical affairs function) 
  • Project and program management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to facilitate cross-functional discussions and workstreams.
  • Working knowledge of a range of medical IT systems, such as Medical Information platforms (Mavens MIC, IRMS), Veeva CRM, Veeva MedComms, Veeva Quality, Cybergrants.  
  • Proficient in developing meaningful metrics and reports for various stakeholders at all levels regarding Medical Affairs and Medical Information activities. 
  • Experience creating interactive and impactful visual dashboards for Medical Affairs and Medical Information data.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance & GxP standards, together with creating systems that enable capturing relevant information and ensuring adherence to these standards.
  • Flexible, enthusiastic and team player.
