The “Lead, Global HEOR” will be responsible for the development and execution of robust HEOR strategies, projects, and deliverables for the whole Idorsia portfolio. S/he will contribute to the development of integrated evidence plans that support product differentiation and optimize commercialization and market access for products in different stages of their life cycle. S/he will be a strategic partner for clinical, medical, commercial, and Value & Access colleagues, proactively participate in cross-functional teams, demonstrate strong leadership in HEOR, as well as strategic clinical, commercial, and access thinking, and be capable of handling multiple projects.
The position has a central role in building the expertise in health economics and health technology assessment (HTA) within Idorsia. The candidate will operate with a high level of autonomy and with minimal direction.


Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Develop an effective Global HEOR team to support Global Value and Market Access.
  • Synthesize evidence leveraging Idorsia’s disease area expertise (clinical, economic, humanistic aspects) to support business strategies and market access efforts for the portfolio brands’ needs. 
  • Lead and ensure timely development and implementation of Budget Impact and Cost-Effectiveness Models, as well as systematic literature reviews at earlier product development stages. 
  • Advise Medical Affairs and Clinical teams in the design of trials with health economic and Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) endpoints.
  • Develop HEOR communication/publication strategies. Collaborate with external customers (e.g., payers, HTA body) and academics. 
  • Collaborate with external customers (e.g., payers, HTA body) and academics in the development and implementation of health outcomes educational programs or collaborative research initiatives
  • Be able to work with a high level of autonomy and with minimal direction. The position has a central role in building the expertise in health economics and HTA within Idorsia. 
  • At early stage of a drug's development, coordinate systematic literature reviews (SLRs) designed to identify existing knowledge and gaps, and support and inform the design of health economic models 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years' experience (in pharmaceutical industry and respective area of expertise), either as an active and frequent consultant or an employee; direct knowledge of comparative European and US approaches for medicinal products' value evidence generation.
  • Master’s degree (and/or PhD) in health economics or a closely related degree and equivalent professional experience.
  • Skills and knowledge of HEOR concepts and methods (e.g., meta-regression, multivariate regression, network meta-analysis, etc.) as well as modelling. Proven record in successful submission of HTA or value dossiers to the relevant bodies, for medicinal products, and as well as for devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work hands-on and autonomously in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to working collaboratively and effectively with others in and across the team to accomplish goals.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); strong business/scientific written English and fluency in one other European language.
  • Excellent communicator with strong listening skills and business acumen.
  • Capacity to capture the scientific and medical components of a new drug development program; experience in more than one therapeutic area
  • Able to inspire and convince others, gain agreement from people, lobby when needed, and network with key stakeholders
  • Full understanding of product development and life cycle, clinical research, value-based partnerships, patient support programs, and HTA
  • Good understanding of project management with proven time management and personal organizational skills
