Job Responsibilities

 

  • Recombinant protein expression using bacterial, eukaryotic and cell-free systems
  • Optimization and modification of expression constructs utilizing molecular biology approaches
  • Protein purification (FPLC based chromatography: affinity, IEX, HIC, SEC)
  • Development of enzymatic and cellular assays to identify small molecule inhibitors; modulators 
  • Data analysis and documentation according to company guidelines
  • Review state of the art literature and extract relevant information 
  • Maintain lab and equipment operational, clean, and safe according to company rules and regulations, foster recombinant lab protein collection
  • Interact with cross-functional project teams in drug discovery
  • You will be part of a drug discovery team with a strong focus on cellular metabolism 

 

Candidate’s Requirements 

 

  • BSc/MSc in Biology, Biochemistry, or related natural science 
  • At least 2 years of industry experience in related area
  • In-depth experience in molecular biology, biochemical and biophysical techniques including recombinant protein expression, purification, spectroscopy, western blot, differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF)
  • Experience in cell culture and gene editing in mammalian cells using CRISPR Cas technologies is advantageous
  • Interest in structural biology 
  • A sense of strong drive-and-can-do attitude even with the most challenging tasks
  • Ability to plan, perform, analyze, accurately document, and communicate results
  • Ability and flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Eager to learn new skills and techniques
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good command of written and oral English, German and/or French is an asset
  • Good knowledge of standard software and interest in computer supported processes
