Job Responsibilities


In this role you will join an established Immunology Biology group that supports Idorsia’s drug discovery portfolio. As the Biology expert you will drive projects at stages from inception and through preclinical development as a key member of integrated multi-disciplinary teams. You will work in a matrix environment where initiative, close teamwork and a strong scientific background of immunology is required. 
  
The successful candidate will 

  • Lead, manage, support and coach up to 3 scientific associates in a research laboratory 
  • Enhance scientific understanding of immunology in the context of drug candidates and drug targets 
  • Develop and implement cellular and molecular tools, employing a wide range of assay technologies and state of the art methodologies with the focus on in vitro systems in order to address mechanism-of-action, structure-activity relationship, and molecular pharmacology questions
  • Explore novel drug discovery targets in close collaboration with other Idorsia scientists 
  • Develop and drive drug discovery project strategies, including new project proposals 
  • Write scientific reports, publications, and nonclinical sections of regulatory documents (or participate in the writing of nonclinical sections of regulatory document)
  • Display outstanding teamwork and communication skills 
  • Present results of the scientific work in a multi-disciplinary environment 
  • Collaborate closely with other departments in drug discovery and be an ambassador of immunology  
  • Document and store experiments and reports according to company policy 
  • Establish and manage external collaborations 

 

Candidate’s Requirements

 

  • PhD in Life Sciences 
  • Dynamic scientist with proven track record of innovation, initiative and building strong collaborative working relationships 
  • At least 5 years research experience since PhD graduation in a multi-disciplinary team in the field of immunology/inflammation 
  • Experience in human immunology  
  • Strong interest to contribute to the discovery of novel medicines within multidisciplinary teams 
  • Excellent communication skills, team-spirit and flexible mindset 
  • Excellent knowledge of English. Good knowledge of German is advantageous 
  • Experience with managing a team would be a plus
