Preformulation and Preclinical Galenics provides physico-chemical and biopharmaceutic understanding of drug candidates and translates them into preclinical formulations and early formulation strategies.


The experienced Scientist in Preformulation and Preclinical Galenics will first build up the necessary infrastructure to thereafter develop, implement, and perform biorelevant dissolution and advanced in-vitro methods and translate the results to recommendations for further development of drug candidates.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop, implement, and perform new test methods related to biorelevant in-vitro dissolution and flux measurements to be used as discriminative and predictive tools for bioperformance assessment of oral drugs and formulation principles
  • Build, adapt and/or modify existing instruments, evaluate, and implement new instruments and technologies
  • Provide technical coaching/mentoring to colleagues within project teams and the group
  • Provide presentations, training and advice to others to share learnings and promote increased scientific and technical understanding of biorelevant methods 
  • Represent preformulation and preclinical galenics in drug discovery projects, preclinical development teams, CMC and life cycle teams
  • Constantly ensure scientific expertise to support the appropriate delivery of new drugs with unfavorable physico-chemical properties

    
 

Candidate’s Requirements 

 

  • Chemist / Pharmacist or equivalent with PhD
  • Several years of job relevant working experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or academic institutions (with a minimum of 3 years in pharmaceutical industry)
  • Pragmatic and hands-on mentality, enjoying working in the lab, and building or combining new instruments
  • Demonstrated scientific excellence with a strong background in analytical sciences
  • Mechanistic understanding of the dissolution and absorption process of drug products in the gastro-intestinal tract
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Effectively collaborates with project team members, including presenting data at project team meetings, critically reviewing experimental data and be actively involved in solving technical challenges that arise during early development
  • Team interaction is critical, and the colleague must be able to collaborate with and mentor peers as well as effectively interact with leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team, thriving in a fast-paced environment
