Job Responsibilities


The role of the Senior Legal Counsel for Business Development & Preclinical will be the main business partner for any legal processes related to our Business Development and Research/Preclinical activities for the benefit of the company, taking into account financial and operational aspects and delivering high-quality legal advice.


  • Act as single point of contact for the following matters: Business Development & Preclinical
  • Managing of Business Development contracts, licensing-in, licensing-out, etc.
  • Provide legal advice for research & pre-clinical legal matters, e.g. research collaboration, licensing-in, licensing-out
  • Develop and structure transactions for IP and tangible assets for the benefit of the company,
  • Draft, negotiate and finalize all sorts of contracts integrally for the benefit of the company, taking into account financial and operational aspects
  • Manage template documents
  • Liaise with Senior Management on BD matters
  • Monitoring and tracking all relevant regulation worldwide


This function reports into the General Counsel.


Candidate’s Requirements




  • Master of Law of a University in Switzerland, preferably with Bar Admission (Swiss, EU, USA)


Job experience


  • A well-seasoned person with bar admission in Switzerland
  • 7-10 years of post-qualification experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Generalist with experience in licensing contracts for pharmaceutical compounds and products, clinical development processes and contracts
  • Deep understanding of the relevant laws  and regulations
  • Pronounced hands-on work attitude combined with a distinctive high willingness to provide high-quality services to customers on a short time


Skills (functional/technical/soft)


  • Excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent knowledge about general transaction law and Intellectual Property
  • In-dept knowledge about anti-trust laws globally
  • In-dept knowledge of licensing law and contracts (in- and out-licensing) globally
  • Strong ability and motivation to develop problem solving strategies and execute on them
  • Strong ability to motivate others to embark on problem solving strategies
  • Strong ability to conduct risk assessments pertaining to legal aspects in agreements
  • Strong ability to act efficiently in different cultural environments 
  • Fluent in English; German and French would be an advantage
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of applications, including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong work ethics and values, accuracy and sense of responsibility and ability to work independently and responsively
  • Ability to be flexible and willingness to accept new responsibilities as needed
