In our Department for Preclinical Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) we are seeking a

 

Temporary Scientific Associate in metabolite structure analysis


for approximately one year, who strives for the structural identification of drug metabolites and answer of related scientific questions arising from our early drug discovery and preclinical drug development projects.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Structure identification and (semi-)quantification of drug metabolites using state-of-the-art LC-HRMS technology
  • Running biochemical assays in the field of drug metabolism (using recombinant enzymes, microsomes and hepatocytes)
  • Analysis of biological matrices (e.g. bile, feces, plasma, urine)
  • Planning, conducting, documenting, and reporting of experimental work
  • Implementation of new technologies and new assays
  • Maintenance of LC-MS equipment

 

Candidate’s Requirements 

 

  • Education in a scientific area related to organic analytical chemistry (e.g. technical diploma, bachelor or master level)
  • At least 2 years of practical experience in analysis of small organic molecules with HPLC-HRMS is mandatory
  • Profound experience in structure identification based on interpretation of MS/MS spectra is mandatory
  • Hands-on experience with Orbitrap-MS systems, Xcalibur software and CompoundDiscoverer software would be an advantage
  • Hands-on experience with in vitro assays in the field of drug metabolism would be an advantage
  • Hands-on experience in analysis of biological matrices would be an advantage
  • Experience in LC-MS-based quantification of small molecules would be an advantage
  • Experience in working with radioactive tracers (carbon 14, tritium) would be an advantage
  • Background in drug metabolism science would be an advantage
  • Very good team-working and communication skills with the capability to work in a project-driven environment
  • Efficient organization and good documentation of work
  • Good command of English; German or French would be an asset
