Job Responsibilities
The VP, Head of Global Marketing is a senior strategic leadership role responsible for defining and driving the global commercial strategy of pipeline and launch assets from Phase 2 onwards.
The role serves as the global commercial voice across the product lifecycle, ensuring that clinical development, evidence generation, market access, medical strategy, positioning, launch readiness, and lifecycle planning are fully integrated to maximize asset and portfolio value.
Working cross-functionally with Development, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, Finance, Regions, and Commercial teams, the VP, Head of Global Marketing leads New Product Planning, Launch Readiness, and Global Launch Excellence while supporting executive decision-making and long-term value creation.
- Lead New Product Planning (NPP) activities across pipeline assets from Phase 2 onward.
- Define and execute global commercial strategies for development-stage and launch assets.
- Partner with Life Cycle Leaders to shape asset strategy, target indications, sequencing, evidence generation plans, and lifecycle opportunities.
- Develop asset value propositions, differentiation strategies, target product profiles, and commercial business cases.
- Assess market opportunities, competitive landscapes, patient needs, treatment pathways, and future standards of care.
- Provide commercial input into clinical development plans to ensure future market adoption, reimbursement, and differentiation.
- Build commercial forecasts, opportunity assessments, valuation scenarios, and portfolio recommendations.
- Establish and lead the global Launch Readiness framework, governance, milestones, and decision-making processes.
- Drive integrated launch planning across Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, Regions, and Affiliates.
- Identify launch-critical risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans to ensure successful execution.
- Define and monitor launch readiness metrics, dashboards, scorecards, and performance indicators.
- Serve as Global Launch Lead for selected strategic assets from late-stage development through launch and early commercialization.
- Lead global cross-functional launch teams and coordinate launch execution across all key functions and regions.
- Develop global brand strategies, positioning, segmentation, messaging architecture, and stakeholder engagement plans.
- Translate clinical differentiation into compelling value propositions for healthcare professionals, patients, payers, and health systems.
- Partner closely with Medical Affairs and Market Access teams on scientific platforms, evidence strategies, pricing assumptions, and reimbursement plans.
- Collaborate with regional and affiliate teams to ensure globally aligned but locally adaptable launch and commercialization strategies.
- Support portfolio prioritization, launch sequencing, resource allocation, and investment decisions across the organization.
- Develop frameworks for portfolio assessment, asset prioritization, and strategic trade-off analyses.
- Prepare executive-level strategic recommendations, governance materials, launch updates, and decision-support documentation.
- Establish governance and operating rhythms for Global Marketing, New Product Planning, and Launch Readiness activities.
- Drive alignment between Development, Medical, Access, Commercial, and Regional organizations to ensure integrated asset strategies.
- Lead post-launch reviews, performance tracking, and lifecycle optimization initiatives.
- Build a culture of accountability, strategic thinking, execution excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
Candidate's Requirements
- Advanced degree in Business, Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, or related field preferred.MBA, PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent experience considered an advantage.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience within Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or Healthcare.
- Significant experience in Global Marketing, New Product Planning, Commercial Strategy, Launch Excellence, or Lifecycle Management.
- Proven track record of leading global and/or regional product launches.
- Strong experience supporting assets from Phase 2 clinical development through commercialization.
- Deep understanding of asset strategy, target product profile development, evidence generation, market access, indication sequencing, and lifecycle planning.
- Experience in specialty care and innovation-driven therapeutic areas such as Rare Diseases, Immunology, Oncology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular, Metabolic Diseases, or related fields.
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional, matrixed global organizations.
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen with the ability to translate complex science into commercial opportunities.
- Experience working closely with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, and Regional Commercial organizations.
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior leadership and governance bodies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage ambiguity, drive strategic decisions, and deliver executional excellence.
- Ability to influence without direct authority in a highly collaborative global environment.
