Reporting to the US Head of Medical Affairs, the Senior Medical Director US is responsible for co-developing and executing the medical affairs strategy for insomnia, Fabry Disease, and vasospasm-related cerebral ischemia (among other disease states) in the US, driving all activities that will lead to successful launches of a number of drugs in the US over the next 3 years.


Key Responsibilities:


  • A core member of the US Medical Affairs Leadership Team, to drive development and implementation of Medical Affairs strategies and plans for insomnia, Fabry Disease, and vasospasm-related cerebral ischemia;
  • Build and lead a small team as products move toward launch
  • Communicate in a compelling manner the medical value of the assets, inside and outside Idorsia, such that it generates excitement and enthusiasm;
  • Responsible for contributing to the medical communications platforms and the evidence generation plans;
  • Accountable for tracking all investigator sponsored trials in the US, and Idorsia sponsored post-approval US studies that are not expected to lead to label change;
  • Closely collaborate with the counterparts in Global Medical Affairs to provide input into other Phase IIIb and IV trials (e.g. study concept and protocol development, study execution, interpretation of results, etc.);
  • Accountable for building, developing and maintaining effective relationships with the relevant US Key Opinion Leaders, while leading or co-leading US Advisory Board activities
  • Ensure on all levels cross-functional collaboration with US Marketing, Drug Safety, US Market Access, and Medical Information.
  • Provide strategic guidance to US MSL teams for insight generation and external engagement.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to the US Medical Director- Daridorexant  


The Senior Medical Director will be located with the US leadership team at the company’s US headquarters in Radnor (Philadelphia), Pennsylvania.  Successful candidates must be willing to spend time in the office.


Candidate Profile

The Senior Medical Director US will be an experienced medical affairs leader with a strong, successful track record in broad/primary care commercialization and, specifically, product launch strategy and execution.

The successful candidate will have the agility to operate in a dynamic, science-driven environment and build bridges into new functional areas.




  • MD degree required
  • 12 year’s experience in the pharmaceutical industry predominantly in the medical affairs function; track record of successful product launch
  • People leadership in a start up &/or functional build out
  • Experience either in CNS (ideally in insomnia and/or cerebral ischemia); and/or in Cardiovascular; and/or in Pediatrics, Endocrinology, or Genetics Diseases; and/or in the Rare Disease space.
  • Experience in a medical affairs role at country level, regionally and/or globally
  • Experience in the US pharmaceutical market
  • Marketing and commercially savvy and robust understanding of regulatory space
